Our MA in Inclusive Special Education (MAISE) offers you the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding and critical insight into the concepts, approaches, and challenges surrounding the education of children and young adults with special educational needs and disabilities.

The programme emphasises the importance of promoting rights and advocacy for individuals with diverse needs and addressing issues of equity and inclusion in education.

Conducting research within your workplace will allow you to strengthen your ability to connect theory with practice, furthering your expertise in this specialised field.

Engage in educational, political and global debates relating to inclusive special education.

The MA in Inclusive Special Education will develop your knowledge and critical understanding of the conceptual and theoretical developments in the education of children and young adults with special educational need and/or disabilities.

You will have the opportunity to engage in critical debate, and develop your knowledge and understanding of a range of relevant topics, through taught seminars led by tutors who are specialists in their field, a range of guest speakers, including people with a lived experience of special educational needs and/or disability, peer learning and independent study.

What will you Learn?

The modules and the assessment will require you to critically engage in educational, political and global debates relating to inclusive special education, and develop your skills in making links between theory and practice by undertaking your own work-based research. The programme comprises of 4 coursework modules and 1 dissertation which will be completed in 10 months part-time.

Programme Structure

The Master of Arts in Inclusive Special Education in Singapore comprises of 4 modules on top of a dissertation, structured to accommodate working professionals’ work priorities and commitments.

 

Admission Criteria

Students will be encouraged and are expected to contribute to the class learning experience in a peer and cohort learning environment. As a student at Aventis, you will be assessed based on your aptitude, potential, experience, and managerial skills.

Language Proficiency

GCE O Level English C6 and above / Minimum IELTS 6.0 / For mature students, the language proficiency will be assessed by the school on a case-by-case basis.

Programme Delivery

Each module spans over 2 consecutive weekends per month (Saturdays & Sundays; 9am to 5pm) and includes a comprehensive coverage of 32 hours of Zoom lectures that is complemented with online course support, additional readings and resource materials.

Degree Awarded

You will be awarded a Master of Arts in Inclusive Special Education degree by the University of Chichester, the same as that awarded on-campus. You will have a chance to graduate in Singapore or UK.
